An eight-story view over Union Pacific’s Bailey Yard — the largest railroad classification yard in the world. Trains as far as you can see.
Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park
Buffalo Bill Cody’s Scout’s Rest Ranch — his 1886 house and show barn, kept as they were in the Wild West show years.
Lake Maloney
A big supply reservoir south of North Platte for boating, swimming beaches, and walleye.
Fort McPherson National Cemetery
A national cemetery on the site of the 1863 frontier fort near Maxwell — a quiet, moving stop off I-80.

Boating, swimming, and some of the region’s best walleye and wiper fishing, down the same valley our history comes from.
