The house rules
Short version: be kind to the land, the history, and the campers next door. Long version below — it fits on one page on purpose.
Check-in & checkout
Cabins: check in after 3:00 PM, check out by 11:00 AM. Campsites: arrive after 1:00 PM, clear the site by noon. Arriving late? Just let us know — we’ll leave the porch light on.
Cancellation
Full refund up to 7 days before arrival. Inside 7 days, we refund whatever we can re-book. No-shows are charged the first night. Weather exceptions below.
Quiet hours
10:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Sound carries a long way out here — generators off, music down, campfire voices. The stars are the late-night entertainment anyway.
Campfires
Fires in the provided rings only, never left unattended, drowned before bed. During county burn bans (it happens most summers at some point) all open flame is off — we’ll tell you at check-in. Local firewood is available at the lodge; please don’t import firewood from out of the area.
Pets
Dogs are welcome at campsites (free) and in cabins ($10/night), leashed around other guests and cleaned up after. Pets stay out of the historical site buildings. Livestock and exotic company: call first.
The historical site
The earth lodge and exhibits are the reason this place exists — treat them like the irreplaceable things they are. No climbing on structures, and if you find an artifact on the ground, leave it where it lies and tell us.
Weather
This is open prairie: heat, hail, lightning, and the odd tornado watch are real. If the National Weather Service issues a warning, come to the main lodge. If severe weather makes travel or camping unsafe, we’ll rebook or refund — no argument.
Liability
You’re on a working rural property — uneven ground, wildlife, farm equipment, and open water are part of the deal. Guests stay at their own risk; supervise your kids and your dogs. Formal waiver language to be provided.
